Located near the intersection of the Beatties Ford Road and the Huntersville-Mt. Holly Road, this grist mill was built around 1820. Originally, known as the Long Creek Mill, the property was purchased by Robert Davidson Whitley (1820-1900) in 1860. It was the center of activity in this rural community, and even served as the location of the post office. County. The Mill ceased operations in 1919 due to storm damage. such as these were common throughout rural North Carolina so local farmers could grind their corn and other grains.
