They sought to identify, acknowledge, and address the harm done by systemic racism in the decisions of County government. They asked for historical background to make clear the origins and depth of the problem. The Carolina Room took on the task and produced a report. It chronicles the lost potential, communal division, and long-term harm that is the story of racism everywhere. It also features some brave voices raised against it. It does not attempt to tell the whole history of Charlotte and Mecklenburg County. Such was not our mandate. It does, however, tell a different side of that story, one that emphasizes struggle and problems more than growth and consensus. 000003244 540__ $$aCC BY 4.0: Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International | https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ 000003244 542__ $$fIn Copyright 000003244 650__ $$aMecklenburg (N.C.) 000003244 655_7 $$ahistory 000003244 7102_ $$aCharlotte Mecklenburg Library$$0no2014166420$$eAuthor 000003244 720__ $$aKathleen (Kate) Greer$$cResearch Intern$$eAuthor$$uRobinson-Spangler Carolina Room 000003244 720__ $$aTom Cole$$cLibrarian$$eAuthor$$uRobinson-Spangler Carolina Room 000003244 720__ $$aJohn O'Connor$$cManager$$eAuthor$$uRobinson-Spangler Carolina Room 000003244 8564_ $$9910607d3-d4c7-4614-88af-6210c5a6dc63$$s1327279$$uhttps://vault.cmlibrary.org/record/3244/files/SystemicRacismInMecklenburgCountyGovernment.pdf 000003244 982__ $$aCharlotte Mecklenburg Library Publications
