President Woodrow Wilson (1856-1924) was invited to Charlotte to speak at the Mecklenburg Declaration of Independence Celebration on May 20,1916. To the left of the President is Governor Locke Craig (1860-1925) and Mayor Thomas LeRoy Kirkpatrick (1977-1946). To the President's right are Governor Richard Manning (1859-1931) of South Carolina and Patrolman Thomas "Tom" J. Black (1844-1918) of the Charlotte Police Department.
